According to Henderson, Nursing is to assist clients (sick or well) in the performance of activities contributing to health, its recovery or peaceful death that clients will perform unaided, if they had the necessary will, strength or knowledge. Nursing is not only a profession by name but it is a career that aides the client towards health independence. Different field, different job description, different setting but Nursing has a same goal towards the client. Nursing is a broad idea but can be simplified according to what nurse preferred to acquire either to work in different areas of nursing. Hence, a Psychiatric clinic is one of the specialized areas. Psychiatric nurse is a profession that deals all ages with mental illness or distress. It is differ from staff nurses who work from medical hospital because these people needs additional training in psychological therapies, building a therapeutic alliance, dealing with challenging behavior and the administration of medication. Yes, psychiatric nurse is not quiet easy because for day to day living, the nurses were always planning what to do the best with the patients. In every problem, there is a treatment. But how about the psychiatric patient achieve for optimal wellness? It is through- Psychotherapeutic Strategy Psychotherapeutic Strategies design to improve the mental health of the client. This kind of therapy is presented by different approach. o Individual Therapy- it is a therapy that needs a close supervision of the nurse. One (1) patient is to one (1) nurse. And Confidentiality is a must component of this therapy. Advantage: 1. individualized care 2. more attention of the nurse towards the patient Disadvantage: 1. Dependency 2. Countertransference is possible among nurses 3. Transference among patient o Group Therapy- a therapy has a maximum of ten (10) patients and minimum of three (3). It allows sharing among members. o Play Therapy- the main idea of this therapy is have a recreational activity and assessment among patient specifically, children who are victim of any kind of abuse. o Art Therapy- a kind of therapy that drawing and sketching is the means of assessment. o Music Therapy- music is being use to explore the feelings of the patient. It is also applied as a relaxation technique o Milieu Therapy- uses environment as therapeutic agent o Remotivation- a therapy that is all about bringing a significant positive part of the past to the present o Vocational/Occupational- a therapy that helps patient to find a source of living and productivity after their rehabilitation o Client Government Groups- a therapy that recommends a patient to govern the management within the group. It provides democratic living among their selves. o Horticulture- a therapy in which planting trees, cultivate soil or farming is the main activity o Bibliotherapy- a therapy uses books for treatment o Somatic Therapy- a therapy by means of ECT (Electroconvulsive Therapy) Different approach and different strategies offer for restoration of health but it has a same goal - To provide wellness among patient.. |
